Lab for critical thinkers

Think Critically.
Communicate Effectively.
Lead Purposefully.

Nuance teaches young people to reason carefully and say what they think clearly, through Debate, Model United Nations, and Public Speaking. Courses run for eight sessions, one class a week, at our Pan Campus in Silom–Sathorn, Bangkok. Open to students from Grade 4.

About

Nuance is the lab for critical thinkers.

Students learn to examine a claim, build a case for it, respond to the strongest objection, and express their conclusion clearly. Our current courses use Debate, Model United Nations, and Public Speaking to put these habits into practice.

Our goal is to empower students to think independently, ask rigorous questions, and build lifelong critical thinking and communication skills.

Our team

Coaches who know the work.

Nuance is led by co-founders Time and Natt and taught by a wider team of coaches with different competitive, academic, and professional experience.

Natt · Co-founder

Each coach brings that experience into the classroom in their own way.

What students learn

Five habits, practiced every session.

01

Identify the assumptions on which a claim depends.

02

Research an issue and distinguish evidence from assertion.

03

Construct a structured argument and defend it under questioning.

04

Address the strongest opposing argument, not the easiest one.

05

Express a clear conclusion in speech, writing, and presentation.

How it runs

Course structure

  • Eight sessions per course, normally one each week.
  • Two-hour sessions; three hours for competitive Debate.
  • Taught in person at the Pan Campus in Silom–Sathorn. Online instruction is available where required.

Students learn by using an idea, getting specific feedback, and trying it again. We hold a high standard and we do not think it needs to be stressful to be serious.

Programs

Three programs, one method.

Debate

Claim it, defend it, answer the objection.

Foundation, Beginner, Intermediate, and Competitive. Eight sessions.

Model United Nations

Research a position, then negotiate for it.

Beginner, Intermediate, and Competitive. Eight sessions, ending in a four-hour committee simulation.

Public Speaking

Shape an idea, structure it, deliver it.

Foundation, Beginner, and Intermediate, plus private competition preparation. Eight sessions.
